Which came first, Whitchurch or Stouffville? The area that is now called Whitchurch Township was actually inhabited by varying native people as far back as 1500 BC. Trails made by native-cultured people and artifacts are the proof of who and when Whitchurch was inhabited. Over time, the native people moved off and the Mississaugas moved into the area.
